What do you do in the summer time

So, Micron took us on a "Night Safari" trip at the zoo.  It was pretty awesome, see some of the below pictures.

Brighton loves animals. These ones looked tasty, but they had signs about not feeding on the animals, or something along those lines.

Here were the Horsderves (spelling??) and drinks before the Safari - they also served us a 4 (5,6?) course meal on the tram that took us around the zoo.

We went to one show where Michael from our Micron party got picked to help with the Snake.  At one point they left him alone on stage (they all had to "run" to help with something else). It was pretty funny.

 The kids made some friends, and had some fun on Mr. Alligator.

This was a group date we went on to Xscape, where they lock you in a room and you have to use clues to figure out how to get out.  Suzy sure get's enamored with some folks here. Luckily for me, he refused her proposal (with tenderness).

LeVel 33 (yes, it's spelled like that at the actual restaurant)

This is the traditional lion dance. This happens a lot around Chinese new year, it was pretty cool. Just randomly happens throughout Singapore (as far as I can tell. There may be some rhyme or reason as to how these things happen, but I don't know what it's based on. As far as I'm concerned, two guys get a wild hare, go buy some lion suits, get some groupies together to play some music and find a crowded street to dance on).  

Awesome Hindu temple we visited

This was a really cool Buddhist temple that they let us in while services were ongoing.  I did feel a bit awkward as I thought about what it would be like to have people coming in and taking pictures as I went to church, so we didn't stay long.

I like how I'm pretty static in these pictures and Suzy is quite dynamic.  Quite the microcosm.

Super B

So, someone has an older brother. After years of Jace wanting to dress in skirts and getting makeovers, he finally get's to influence someone else.  Brighton loves dressing like a super hero and using her super power force fields on you (she makes some kind of sound while pushing out with her hands and looking at you intently until you react appropriately. By appropriately I mean as if you and been hit by a force field of significant power). 

 If Jace does it, she does it too! Here she is with "robot arms".  Jace will often do this and pretend to be a robot (or use a box over his head, which usually ends in tears and some bruises of some sort since he likes to run and can't really see through boxes).

It's cute to see these two together. Brighton and Jace sure love each other, although they do get in spats (usually Brighton lashes out after Jace has been hugging her too much, not sharing enough for her tastes etc - Jace rarely if ever lashes back). 

Company trips and more

So yes, here are a bunch of grown men and women posing in a V as if we were a flock of geese.  One thing I've notices is the predilection towards fun poses and picture taking.  We had lots of fun photo-opportunities on this recent trip I took. My boss is front/middle, I'm in the back, as always.

Here's me at dinner with Will, a friend from the ward here. We (Suzy and his wife as well) went to dinner at a local place called La Pau Sat. They close off this road at 7pm, and these vendors gather and try to compete for your business. For example, we had a couple of guys attempt to accost us until we accepted one who set up a folding table for us with some plastic stools. The Satay (meat on a stick, hard to go wrong there, as long as it's cooked) was delicious. It was S$0.70 a stick (about 1-2 bites per stick depending on the person). I got 10, so did Will.  

I also ordered a Prata set (some Naan {Indian flatbread} with some type of curry sauce, very good).  The one bummer is they don't really sell fountain drinks many places, so we got our usual Coke Light in a can with a cup of Ice to go with it. These guys come around with their menus trying to get you to buy from their particular vendor. Afterwards, we went to the Wendy's right next door and got Frosties. I like Frosties.

Here's me at dinner in Taiwan with some of the team members there.  I pretended to eat some of the stuff I don't really eat, or at least picked parts of the dish I was willing to eat. The Formosa Beef was delicious. 

What can I say, I have personal space issues.

Jeg Lag and Fun Fruits and such

So, Jet lag is a pretty funny thing. This was at Toys R "S" (As Jace calls it).  We were in desperate in need of a stroller, and were willing to pay the over-inflated Singaporean prices for an merely okay stroller. Oh, and yes, they got lots of funny looks from the store patrons. 

In the car it wasn't much different.

 We had lots of fun opportunities to try new fruits at the Hotel for the 5 days we stayed there (until our house was completely ready).

I don't know what it's called, but it looks really funny when not pealed. It actually tastes okay though.

I can't remember what this one was, Jace sure looks excited though.

That's a fruit that guy is chopping up. 

 So, we went and got Jace a haircut before we got the Singaporean passes that the family would have for 2 years. I wasn't allowed inside, only those getting their hair cut. I don't know why he thought I wouldn't need a haircut, but oh well. Jace was a trooper. Each chair was numbered, and you moved up as the next subject is called to the barber chair.
